PEACE AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT STUDIES
This course aims to introduce students to empirical research in International Relations and equips them to engage with the literature and design their own studies. We will begin with a brief overview of core concepts in research design, then discuss how to identify puzzles and formulate clear research questions, connect them to existing scholarship, and derive testable hypotheses. We will then focus on the main qualitative and quantitative research designs used in IR. Readings will include technical and methodological pieces as well as practical examples from relevant articles in the field.
