The preliminary part of the course will address the composite relationship between diplomacy, international politics, foreign policy, and national security. The first part of the course will focus on the practical aspects of versatile diplomacy, aiming to equip students with operative diplomatic knowledge of the practical dimensions of modern diplomacy. As diplomacy has evolved, diversified, and become more sophisticated, the second part of the course will examine post-modern hybrid diplomacy, including counter-diplomacy, digital diplomacy with an emphasis on cyber, social media, and AI, as well as manipulative diplomacy and counterterrorism diplomacy.
